The Resistance Room was founded on a simple idea: to create a safe space for women in STEM and their allies. We are a secure, empowering community platform designed to address workplace challenges. Our approach is rooted in shared experiences, data-driven insights, and actionable strategies, ensuring that every member finds the support and tools they need to thrive.
Who are We?
My name is Leigh, and this website began as a project for my college Women and Gender Studies course. What started as an assignment has grown into something much more meaningful: a space built with intention, care, and community at its core.
While I am the creator behind this platform, “we” represents something bigger. It reflects all of us who come together here, people who believe in supporting one another, sharing our stories, and creating change.
As a trans man, I am deeply committed to building a safe and inclusive space for women and their allies. This is a place where voices can be heard without fear, where experiences can be shared openly, and where growth and understanding are encouraged.
In a world that can often feel unequal, uncaring, and unsafe, this space exists to remind us that we are not alone. Together, we can uplift one another, learn from each other, and build a stronger, more compassionate community.
What We Believe In
Stand firm against the forces that seek to diminish your spirit, silence your voice, or make you question your worth. In moments shaped by violence, fear, or abuse, it can feel overwhelming, but your strength is still there, even if it feels buried. Healing is not linear, and reclaiming your power does not happen all at once. It grows in small, steady steps: setting boundaries, speaking your truth, reaching out for support, and choosing yourself again and again.
You are allowed to take up space. You are allowed to feel, to heal, and to rise at your own pace. There is power in survival, but there is also power in rebuilding, finding your voice, rediscovering your identity, and defining your future on your own terms. Together, as a community, we stand beside one another, lifting each other up, offering compassion, and reminding each other that we are never alone.
